During the week of May 3-7, Ms. Judy's 4-year-old's have had an awesome time studying and learning about insects. Their butterflies hatched over the weekend, so the children had the opportunity to watch five butterflies develop from caterpillars to chrysalises to beautiful winged insects. Bug catchers were decorated and used to find worms, ants, beetles, and caterpillars while on a nature hunt. The children got to view a real beehive and then taste a delicious treat of honey and hexagon-shaped crackers. Lastly, at the end of the week, the children used inchworm rulers to measure objects such as carrots, pencils, and books. This is a perfect time of the year to explore nature and its inhabitants, and the class showed great excitement over the new discoveries that they made. |
