  5th Grade Trip to Williamsburg

The week of May 3rd the 5th graders took their annual graduation trip to Williamsburg, Virginia.  They had the luxury of spending one day touring the Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center. They spent a day sightseeing and shopping around Williamsburg. A couple of nights included taking a "Ghost Tour" around Williamsburg and participating in a "Mama Said, Papa Said" interactive play about slavery. The 5th graders even got the privilege of eating dinner and being entertained by some musicians and the owner of the restaurant at one of the Williamsburg's authentic colonial taverns, Shield's Tavern. On Thursday of this special week, they enjoyed touring the Nauticus Maritime Center and Battleship Wisconsin. As an added treat, they got to take a lunch naval base cruise on the Victoria Rover in Norfolk, Virginia and watch an Imax movie about "Underwater Life".  They ended Thursday by playing at Virginia Beach for a couple of hours and having their last "Senior Night" playing games and swimming in the hotel pool.  The students returned to Tate's on Friday afternoon.
A special thank you goes to many of our 5th grade parents for helping the teachers chaperone the trip.
