...Setting the Standard

Thank you for your interest in participating in Tate¹s School of Discovery's Eighth Annual Regional Science Fair taking place on April 27-29th at the Knoxville Christian Center. The Regional Science Fair is an outstanding
opportunity for third through fifth grade students from throughout East TN to complete an experiment, a report, a display board, interview with local scientists and be rewarded for their hard work! Last year, approximately 150 students from thirteen schools throughout Anderson, Knox, Oneida, and Sevier counties participated in the Fair.

Division Awards are given per grade level to the top three projects in Earth and Space Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. Last year's winners received:

  • Honorable Mention - Ribbon, Certificate, and Special Coupons
  • 3rd Place - Bronze Medal, Certificate, and Maggie Moo's Gift Certificate, and Snow Cone Maker
  • 2nd Place - Silver Medal, Certificate, Cold Stone Creamery Certificate, RCA DVD Player and $15 Best Buy Certificate
  • 1st Place - Gold Medal, $50 Savings Bond, Certificate, Marble Slab Gift Certificate, Apple iPod Shuffle and $15 iTunes Gift Certificate and $25 Cash to Teacher

Grand Prize Winners are chosen from the nine first place winners. Last
year's winners received:

  • 3rd Place ­ Bicycle with helmet, $100 savings bond, and $50 cash to teacher
  • 2nd Place - Bicycle with helmet, $200 savings bond, and $100 cash to teacher
  • 1st Place ­ Bicycle with helmet, $300 savings bond, and $150 cash to
    teacher.

Special Awards are given by community businesses for a wide range of merit, such as the Ijams Nature Center Award for the "Best Conservation-Related Project" or Nascar Speedpark's Award for the "Best Project Related to Motion."
