FUNDING RESOURCES

529 PLAN: Due to changes in federal tax law passed by Congress in 2017, families with children in grades K–12 may now be able to take federal tax-free withdrawals of up to $10,000 a year to pay for tuition at an elementary or secondary public, private or religious school. Contact your financial advisor to find out if a 529 savings plan could be beneficial to you.

LOANS: There are two types of loans to consider when investing in your child’s education: an education loan and a personal loan. An educational loan lets you borrow up to 100% of the school-certified tuition costs. A personal loan can be used for any purpose you select including tuition. If you have an interest in securing a loan or a line of credit for educational purposes, we suggest you contact your bank or financial advisor to review options and saving plans. If you are new to the area, TNBANK is located next door to our administration office (cedar bluff branch).
