Service Learning

Discovering the importance of helping others and the joy of doing so is vitally important for children. At Tate’s, each grade level participates in meaningful acts of service throughout the year. Students learn that there are indirect and direct ways of helping within the community.

“It is important for our students to realize how blessed they are and that it is important to give back all year, not just during the holidays.” -LouL Tate

Service-learning opportunities develop strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills and allow critical-thinking skills to be utilized in real-world applications. Working together to help others in need also creates a strong camaraderie among peers and reinforces the importance of good citizenship. In addition, children develop a deeper understanding of themselves and empathy and respect for others when applying their energy to a cause for the greater community.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?”

— Martin Luther King, Jr.
